Thompson Aero Seating

We've worked with Thompson (sister company of previous client) for nearly a decade now. Mainly producing 3-4 minute promotional videos for their upcoming releases, and this project was no different.

Brief and Storyboarding.

The brief we received from Thompson was to create a film that showed how they've used the companies Irish roots, as their main inspiration for their new seating range. Being clear on the purpose of the film is always really important, and this film wasn't about the features of the seating, but only about their choices when it came to the Textures and Materials of the seating. As always, we set out a plan, and storyboarded the full video before filming. Unfortunately going to Ireland to film wasn't an option, so we knew we had to use Stock Footage, and film from the company's HQ.

Filming

Being a Bristol based Video Company, we stayed local to Thompson, to ensure we were ready for the 2 days of filming. Because we were filming with a 2 man crew, we had to allow the extra time to set up, and get our equipment in place. Sounds easy, but we have A LOT of bags, cases and stands, so we used Thompsons "cages on wheels" to transport our kit.

We planned in a half day (before the main shoot day) to set up and pre-light our main interview shot. This is always so useful because you can walk in the next day, and pretty much start filming straight away.

It was a long day of interviews and cut away shots, I think we were on site until around 10pm. We're committed to getting what we need to make this film the best it can be, and if that means a late night, so be it !

Edit

A big part of the edit was the 3D shots of the seats. We worked with a 3D modeling company create these animations. A big of the camera movement was slow moving, almost "space like" floating. This included adding "roll" on the camera animation, and also being quite close to the materials themselves.
